Hello, Iām John Twomey.
Professional
John has 15 years of experience in medical device development. This experience includes the clinical areas of advanced bipolar electrosurgical vessel sealing, ultrasonic vessel sealing, open and laparoscopic surgery, transcatheter endovascular and cardiac electrosurgical intervention, endoscopic transcatheter electrosurgical access and transluminal stenting, minimally invasive percutaneous electrosurgical treatment, minimally invasive percutaneous electrode implantation, percutaneous suture-mediated vascular closure, and collagen-based biomaterials for vascular grafting.
John has contributed to 30 issued patents and 9 pending patent applications.
John has a proven record of solving complex problems with simple solutions. In multiple troubleshooting efforts, John has identified the root-cause and proposed a simple solution to an ambiguous issue which has stumped teams of engineers for long periods of time. These troubleshooting efforts directly resolved issues related to safety and efficacy and subsequently enabled multiple product launches. In multiple innovation efforts, John has proposed radically novel and simple approaches to meeting target requirements. This has been done by challenging fundamental assumptions that are commonly taken for granted. John is never satisfied lingering purely in theory so he quickly builds proof-of-concept prototypes to evaluate proposed solutions in real life.
Academic
John graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2007 with B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering with a focus in Bioengineering.
